Donación del proyecto 'Read Japan' a la Universidad de Guanajuato

La Universidad de Guanajuato participó en la pasada convocatoria 2023 del Proyecto Read Japan, a partir de la cual recibió la donación de 92 libros durante el presente año 2024, los cuales se encuentran disponibles para su consulta en la Biblioteca Central ‘Mtro. Eugenio Trueba’, en la ciudad de Guanajuato.

Los libros donados corresponden a editoriales tales como Oxford University Press, Cornell University Press, University of California Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Columbia University Press, Stanford University Press, o Cambridge University Press, entre otras. En materias como sociedad y cultura, literatura y artes, economía y negocios, política y relaciones internacionales, o historia.

La misión del proyecto 'Read Japan' es promocionar la comprensión de Japón en todo el mundo a través de libros. Su objetivo es proporcionar a los lectores de todo el mundo una imagen precisa de Japón mediante la donación de libros destacados. No solo está dirigido a personas investigadoras interesadas en Japón, sino a personas líderes de opinión e intelectuales especializadas en áreas distintas a los estudios sobre Japón. El proyecto realiza donaciones de libros a bibliotecas e instituciones de investigación de todo el mundo desde 2008.

Fue iniciado por The Nippon Foundation en 2008, y actualmente es administrado por la Fundación Tokio para la Investigación Política con el apoyo financiero de The Nippon Foundation. La Fundación Tokio para la Investigación Política es un grupo de expertos independiente y sin fines de lucro que examina cuestiones críticas que enfrenta la sociedad desde un punto de vista neutral e imparcial. Lleva a cabo investigaciones rigurosas basadas en evidencias y ofrece una variedad de opciones de políticas en caminos pioneros hacia un futuro más brillante. Se propone cultivar futuros líderes de mente abierta y socialmente comprometidos, tanto en Japón como en el extranjero, y así poder contribuir a construir una mejor sociedad para todos.

El logotipo del proyecto muestra tres libros en forma de pájaros con el sol japonés como telón de fondo, que simboliza el conocimiento y la cultura de Japón alzando el vuelo y saliendo al mundo. Cada pájaro representa una de las piedras angulares del proyecto 'Read Japan': la Fundación Nippon, los establecimientos diplomáticos en el extranjero y las bibliotecas.

La entrega y disposición de la donación ha sido coordinada con la asistencia del Consulado General de Japón en León, cuyo titular es el Sr. Katsumi Itagaki, Cónsul General.

La Universidad de Guanajuato, a través del Sistema Bibliotecario, agradece la generosidad de The Nippon Foundation, The Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research, y el Consulado General de Japón en León, por la donación de esta colección disponible en la Biblioteca Central, para su consulta por la comunidad universitaria y público en general.
